Software Requests - Classrooms and Labs

All computers in classrooms and labs are frozen. This means that no data is retained and, upon restart, the computer deletes all locally saved data and returns to its prior state.

Standard applications loaded onto classroom and lab devices receive routine updates.

When available and appropriate, cloud-based application access should be utilized over locally installed applications.

Outside of standard applications, specifically requested software is modified annually. These modifications are requested via a Google form emailed out to the “Faculty” distribution list around the March time frame referencing the following Academic Year (i.e. requests are collected March 2027 for Academic Year 27/28 use).

Software deployed for classrooms and labs adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Software must receive prior approval for installation on any Cabrillo-managed device through the Software Approval Process.
  • All requests must be submitted through the “Classroom/Lab Software Modification Request” process/form during the designated time frame as noted above.
  • Software must be compatible with the hardware in place.
  • Software must be remotely deployable and maintainable in a standard and automated fashion (i.e. should not require granular or manual customizations/installs, per-device modifications, etc.)
