Below is pertinent information pertaining to obtaining retiree Cabrillo email accounts
- Upon retirement, qualifying Cabrillo employees can choose to retain access to a Cabrillo email account after their retirement date.
- Human Resources manages qualification for a retiree account and will ask retirees if they would like one.
- When ready, the Human Resources Benefits Analyst will contact the retiree and ask them to pick-up the credentials from the IT department.
- If IT has not received notification of the request prior, accounts are disabled on the retiree's effective retirement date.
- Retiree accounts only provide Gmail access. They do not provide access to any other Google apps or Cabrillo services.
- Faculty members who retain a Cabrillo email account after retirement keep the same account with the same primary address they used as employees. They retain all the messages in their account, but their account has access only to Gmail. All non-personal alias mail addresses are removed from the account.
- All other types of employees who retain a Cabrillo email account after retirement get a new account with a new address. They do not have access to any of the messages in their employee account.
- Email Auto-Reply:
- If requested by a non-faculty retiree, IT can add an auto-reply message to the person's employee account directing people to contact the retiree at the new address, and the auto-reply message can remain enabled for up to six months after the person's retirement date.
- For retirees who get a new account, the new account is created immediately after the person's employee account is disabled, which is generally on the person's effective retirement date, or on the first business day after the retirement date if the retirement date is on a weekend or a holiday.
