Google Calendar - report calendar event as spam

Tags calendar spam

To stop Google Calendar spam, report the event as spam, change your settings to automatically add invitations only if the sender is known, and avoid clicking on any links within the spam events. You can also report events directly in the app or on the desktop, and check for any malicious calendar subscriptions.

How to stop Google Calendar spam

  • Report spam events:
    • Open the event in the Google Calendar app or on a computer.
    • Click the "More options" or three-dots menu.
    • Select "Report as spam". This will remove the event from your calendar.
  • Change your event settings:
    • Go to Calendar settings.
    • Under "Event settings," find "Automatically add invitations".
    • Select "No, only show invitations to which I have responded" or "Only if the sender is known". This prevents spam invites from automatically appearing on your calendar.
  • Check for calendar subscriptions:
    • If you see a recurring pattern of spam, you may have subscribed to a malicious calendar.
    • Check your list of subscribed calendars and remove any that are suspicious.
  • Do not interact with the spam event:
    • Do not click any links in the event description.
    • Do not respond to the invitation. Interacting with the event can let spammers know your account is active.
